Thought-provoking. Bold. Theatrical. These are just some of the many ways to describe up and coming country-pop artist and songwriter Brina Kay.
At her core, Brina Kay is a storyteller. Her lyricism easily lends itself to country music, but pop production brings her stories to life in innovative and unexpected ways.
After graduating from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and spending her summer performing with a local band, Brina packed everything she owned into a beat-up Honda Odyssey and made the move to Music City, Nashville Tennessee. Without a job, a plan, or any friends or family in the state, Brina Kay paved her own way.
Within a year of her move, Brina released four new singles, two of which were featured on iHeart Country Station Big 95.5 Chicago's "Backyard Country" program. All four of her 2019 singles charted on She Wolf Radio, with "Heat of the Moment" reaching no. 8, and "Into the Sun" still rising on the charts. In 2019 Brina was also nominated for the "Best Singing" and "Best Song" awards by the SongBro podcast and was featured in multiple articles by Chicago's Daily Herald. Other notable appearances include features on the Chris Top Program, Indie Star Radio, and the You Can’t Sit With Us podcast.
A musical theatre kid at heart, Brina’s songs “paint a picture, often helping her listeners deal with the ups and downs of life” (Women of Country.) She lives her life like it’s a movie, and fans can experience every twist and turn of it by reading her raw, autobiographical blog.
In truth, Brina Kay was always destined for the life she now leads, having music in her bones since she learned to play the violin as a kindergartener. With relentless ambition and unyielding passion, you can always expect something bigger and better from Brina to be on the Horizon.
